The latest statistics for WM Data were presented at the WM Datenservice customer forum last Thursday in Frankfurt. According to the presentation, the number of new issues this year will increase to an estimated number of 6,3 million. This represents an increase of 120% in the last five years. The main reason for the increase is the number of warrants being issued, which by far account for the largest share of new issues (see chart with figures for the first three quarters).
Data on the target market and cost transparency are supplied for around 2,15 million securities, including 71,800 funds. According to MiFID II / MiFIR, issuers of securities are required to provide this data in good time.
A common thread during the event concerned problems with the performance of the target systems, caused by the steadily increasing number of securities reference data. SimCorp, a global software provider for the financial industry, has responded to this challenge by purchasing a company specializing in securities reference data management. This acquisition will be integrated into the SimCorp Dimension software.
For everyone dealing with performance issues caused by the reference data explosion, Intalus, the specialist for managing WM data, offers their own solution: Grand Central.
